She was born in Lucknow. She married Ram Mani(DB 1933) on October 18,1964. She worked as the Head of the Dept of Foreign Languages in the British School in New Delhi. Later moved to Kodaikanal and worked as the Vice Principal of Kodaikanal Christian College, on her husband's retirement from service. Later she started "My School Surabhi" in her own estate at Kodaikanal. She started this as a charitable institution to offer free education to the poor children of its neighborhood. She is the Chief Patron and Trustee of the Institution. She is settled in Kodaikanal. Their children are Shiv Mani and Meenakshi Mani
